About the artwork
In the center of the picture are two stone gates – the first and the last. The two gates symbolically stand for “birth and death”. This becomes particularly haunting as the way of life goes through one gate and is bounded by another gate. Due to the simple choice of colors and the layout, the gates appear sublime and powerful. The light blue sky represents life, while death is represented by black color. The painting has a custom-made model frame with applications of gold leaf. The painting is dated and signed on the front and back.
