About the artwork
This painting is part of a series of four oil paintings about human transience, i.e. death. In the painting All That Is Ends, a mountain of human skulls in a lake dominates. All skulls have lowered eyelids and some skulls also have holes in their heads. The calm that emanates from this painting is underlined by the general mood in the painting, the background in glaring light and the blue evening mood. The landscape that can be made out in the background consists of destroyed trees. The painting has a custom-made model frame and is signed and dated on the front. The building is titled, dated and signed on the reverse.
