About the artwork
It is one of the few human representations that Siegbert Hahn painted. The portrait shows Nicolaus de Cusa (Cusanus). Nikolaus von Kues (* 1401 in Kues on the Moselle, today Bernkastel-Kues; † 11.08.1464 in Todi, Umbria) was a famous, universally educated German philosopher during his lifetime , Mathematician, theologian and cardinal. The realistic and simple depiction of the cardinal against a red background reflects the color of the cardinal’s robe. The portrait is framed by a painted red frame. The work has a custom-made model frame.
