About the artwork
The painting is a classic tondo, which was popular in the Florentine Renaissance. The focus of the painting is on two trees and two birds in a wintry landscape. The two birds sit opposite each other on different trees and look at each other. The title “Come to me” suggests that one of the two birds seeks the proximity of the other bird during this cold season. The tondo – the circular execution of the painting – is framed by branches of the trees shown and other branches of the tree that carries the tondo. The painting has a custom-made model frame with gold leaf applications. The painting is dated and signed on the back and can be hung up directly.
