About the artwork
In the center of the oil painting, numerous red-blooming flowers grow out of a hole in the ground. Birds sitting in holes all around look out and observe and admire the strange blooming of flowers in the barren landscape. The wondrous light in the hole in the ground and in the sky creates a positive atmosphere of optimism. The painting with its imposing dimensions (95 x 210 cm / HxW) has an original baroque frame from the late 17th century (1670 – 1680) from Spain. The frame was chewed on the artist’s trip to the legendary “El Rastro” flea market in Madrid. The frame is in its original condition (without restoration) and still has the original color and gold leaf gilding of the carved ornaments. The painting is signed on the front.
