About the artwork
This painting is part of a series of four oil paintings about human transience, i.e. death. In the painting “Death Sustains Life” it becomes clear that every end has a beginning and every beginning has an end. The painting depicts the eternal cycle of life. The painting centers on a human skull with life-giving water running out of its mouth and pouring into a square basin with plants awaiting the life-giving water. A devastated landscape with dead trees can be seen in the background of the painting. The skull is fed from a lake in the painting, which gives the water to the plants. The painting has a custom-made model frame and is dated and signed on the front. The painting is titled, dated and signed on the back.
